What are the Eligibility Criteria for RRB Section Controller 2026?

Applicants must satisfy any one of the following nationality conditions:

Candidates applying for the RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026 must be 18 to 30 years of age as on 1st July 2026. RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026

The RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026 consists of multiple stages to assess candidates' knowledge, aptitude, document eligibility, and medical fitness. Candidates must qualify at each stage to proceed further in the recruitment process. 

  • CBT: A Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be conducted to evaluate candidates' Professional Ability, General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Mathematics, and General Science.
  • CBAT: Computer-Based Aptitude Test conducted to evaluate candidates’ suitability for the Section Controller role. Final merit is prepared using CBT and CBAT marks. 
  • Document Verification: Candidates qualifying the CBT and CBAT will be called for verification of educational, identity, category, and other required certificates.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates must clear the prescribed medical fitness examination before final appointment as a Section Controller. 

RRB Section Controller CBT Exam Pattern 2026 

The CBT exam for RRB Section Controller 2026 is the first stage of the selection process and is conducted in online mode. Candidates who qualify the CBT will be shortlisted for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) based on their merit.. The questions are objective type and are asked from multiple subjects. 

CBT Exam Pattern:

RRB Section Controller 2026 CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)

Candidates shortlisted based on their CBT performance will be required to appear for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for the RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026.

  • Shortlisting: Candidates equal to 8 times the total vacancies in each category (UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, including ExSM) will be shortlisted for the CBAT based on their CBT marks.
  • Vision Certificate: Shortlisted candidates must produce the original Vision Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure VI/VIA) at the time of CBAT, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for the test.
  • Exam Language: The CBAT will be conducted only in English and Hindi.
  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery to qualify.
  • Relaxation: No relaxation in the minimum T-Score is provided to any category, including SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, ExSM, or PwBD.
  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in the CBAT. 

RRB Section Controller 2026 Merit Preparation & Final Selection:  

The final merit list for RRB Section Controller Exam 2026 will be prepared only for candidates who qualify in all CBAT test batteries, with 70% weightage to CBT marks and 30% weightage to CBAT marks.
